The Pleasures of a Big Knob.
I'd sort of forgotten about my Lenz Compact.
It was the third DCC throttle I bought, after a Bachmann EasyDCC and a Roco LokMaus2.
I've used the LokMaus quite a bit, as its small size works well at the front of the layout when it's on its cupboard top perch; unfortunately the (ironically) larger Compact doesn't fit so conveniently. Some time after, I bought a couple of Lenz hand held controllers for a very good price and used the LH100 for programming when I started fitting decoders to my remaining locos.
Anyway, today I took Schinkendorf to the Hereford Model Railway Show, and when packing I thought I'd dig out the Compact, and I'm really glad I did. As the layout was displayed on a GoPak table there was plenty of room to place the compact in front of the layout.
I think it may well become my first choice for exhibition operating, as it just makes it so easy and pleasant, with very little in the way of distracting functions, and, of course, a Nice Big Knob!
